OVER VIEW
The department of orthopaedics is having postgraduate
course of M.S Ortho and D.Ortho from the year 2005. So
far 14 students in M.S. Ortho and 16 students in D.Ortho
course have qualified with flying colours. The
department has conducted many CME every year for the
benefit of the students and faculty. It has a good
library. Department successfully conducted the
pondicherry state orthopaedic conference (POACON) at
Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College for 2 days from
04.01.2014 to 05.01.2014. More than 150 delegates from
Southern states attended the conference.
The dept is catering to the orthopaedic and Trauma care
needs of people from Karaikal and surrounding areas of
Tamilnadu. All major surgeries are done here such as
fracture fixations, nonunion surgery using llizaro
technique, joint replacement, club foot correction etc.
Arthroscopy and spine surgery are also done. An OT
equipped with C-arm, mobile x-rays and other essential
instruments are available. A physiotherapy unit with all
needed equipments is part of the OPD.
