M. D. Forensic Medicine or Doctor of Medicine in Forensic Medicine is a two-year postgraduate degree course that educates and trains students towards applying a wide spectrum of sciences in answering queries to the judiciary and legal system in relation to a crime or a civil action. Forensic science applies scientific principles for the investigation of criminal cases. Forensic Science, Forensic toxicology, Medical Jurisprudence, and legal procedure, Autopsy, and Law and Medicine, all come under this course program.
Forensic criminologists and scientists are in great demand both in the private and public sectors. Candidates having completed the course can find several job opportunities as professionals in this segment as forensic scientists, criminologists, research assistants, investigators in the public and private investigation agencies like CBI, AIIMS, Police, and so on. Banks, armed forces departments, forensic labs, railways, insurance companies, etc, coming under the government organizations, recruit forensic criminologists. Candidates, after having procured enough experience, can even open up their own private investigation and detective agency.
