Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (VMRF) has attained Deemed to be University status in 2003 - Declared Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956

Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation (VMRF) is a private collegiate research institution based in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. In the year 2003 the "Deemed University" status was conferred on Vinayaka Missions by Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, with the recommendations of the UGC (Established Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956). In 2015, the University was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council with B Grade.

Vinayaka Missions had its inception in the year 1981 with the establishment of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. Not far from then, in 1982, the Founder-Chairman, Dr. A Shanmugasundaram instituted the Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy in Salem, the pioneer institution of Vinayaka Missions. In the year 2003 the "Deemed to be University" status was conferred on Vinayaka Missions by The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.

MISSION: To spread education globally in the field of Medicine, Dentistry, Paramedicine, Homoeopathy, Engineering, Management and Basic science using existing resources and technology.
MOTTO: Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation strives to spread the cerebral VISION to impart knowledge that is WISDOM which is achieved in the spirit of UNITY. Our vision is translated into reality through our mission by spreading quality education using our excellent resources and technology support in all the professional programs. Knowledge with wisdom leads to excellence. VMU strives to impart necessary knowledge and skills to its students thus providing a great employment opportunity and service to Humanity as a matter of National Importance.

Nearly 15,000 students are studying in the various constituent colleges, and every year approximately 2000 medical, dental, homeopathy, paramedical, engineering and management professionals besides arts & science graduates graduate from the VMRF campuses.
