Department of Paediatrics | Overview

Paediatric department was one of the first to be started. The department is delivering the health care system to the rural people belonging to Karaikal as well as surrounding villages.It serves the children by having regular immunization clinic on every Wednesday and takes active role in the national pulse polio programmes.Regular under-nutrition, cardiology, nephrology and child development disorder clinics are organized to serve as special clinics for needy children.


Totally there are sixty beds in the ward. Neonatal and Paediatrics intensive care unit is functioning to take care of the very sick children with latest equipments. Neonatal intensive care unit is organized separately near the obstetrics ward and is discharging the valuable service to the sick newborn children.Paediatric department was upgraded as a postgraduate institution in the year 2006.This department takes active part in all national programmes. In all important social programmes like world breast feeding week with public rally and educational programmes for the lactating mothers.
