  Medical Camps VMMC, Karaikal ANBU NAGAR –KARAIKAL


On 15th September, 2022, Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College & Hospital, Karaikal organized a free mobile medical camp in ANBU NAGAR –KARAIKAL. The medical camp was organised with the aim to provide quality medical care and free medicines to the poor and needy people of the area. A team of 5 specialist doctors including front line Healthcare professionals like Staff Nurse, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Health Camp Officers rendered their services to more than 100 patients who had come from different villages of Karaikal. Free medicine was also distributed among patients. People of the area have hailed the efforts of our Vinayaka Missions Medical College Hospital, Karaikal and hoped of organising such camps in future also. The Medical Camp provided medical support to needy and poor patients including senior citizen by rural clinics and medical camps and deaddiction camps. The Patients received free consultancy from doctors, treatment, free medicines and blood test. In ANBU NAGAR -KARAIKAL General health camps, Paediatric Camp, breast and cervical cancer screening camp and surgical health camps were organised periodically to meet the specific requirements of the community specially to check the spread of seasonal diseases. A total of 100 people were impacted through these camps and 12 referrals were made to Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College Hospital, Karaikal for severe cases. Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College Hospital, Karaikal also facilitated people to avail government schemes like Ayushman Bharat. Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College Hospital, Karaikal recognizes the challenges of the underprivileged to access primary healthcare. We therefore organize free General and multispecialty health camps across Karaikal and Tamil Nadu Villages which includes a thorough check up by a doctor, distribution of free medicines along with specialized tests namely BP, Blood Sugar and Haemoglobin(Hb) monitoring. These timely interventions provide early diagnosis and treatment reducing the incidence of morbidity and mortality. Such health camps address immediate health care needs of the marginalized communities. The department of community medicine provided consultation to the villagers of ANBU NAGAR -KARAIKAL with the help of faculties, postgraduates, interns, and staffs of Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College, Karaikal. Organizing a health camp provides an opportunity for the need assessment of the community, also helps in finding the disease burden of the community. It also helps the community in availing quality primary health-care services at their doorstep. Display Banner, hoarding materials were installed and interaction was done with the village leaders. From the camp approach, it was found that the majority of participants had hypertension and, in a community, the noncommunicable diseases mostly visible either due to the lack of awareness or unmet need of the health system.
