Course Objective

The main objective of the program is to offer educational programs of International Standard to prepare students to become competent medical professionals with a holistic approach in a global environment.

At the end of the undergraduate programme the objectives achieved shall be:

•    Basic Medical training to diagnose and treat primary Health care problems, familiarization in the speciality and super speciality subjects enough to diagnose and direct the patient approprialty for secondary and tertiary Health problems.

To bring awareness and implement all the national programmes such as

•    Immunization programme


•    TB control programme


•    Malaria control programme


•    Filaria Eradication programme


•    AIDS Awareness programme


•    To fulfill the obligation to the community by achieving health for all through health education, and importance of sanitation and water supply.


•    Prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases.


•    To develop a scientific temper in the students for life long learning, as medicine is a developing and constantly changing subject, by regularly attending CME programmes.

I MBBS –12 Months: 2 Terms

Anatomy 6 Months each (I & II)

Physiology 6 Months each (I & II)

Biochemistry 6 Months each (I & II)

Objectives
At the end of Phase-I & II, the student should be able to:

• Understand normal disposition, inter relationships, functional and structural anatomy of various organs and their development. He should be able to locate structures of the body and mark topography of living anatomy.
• Understand and describe normal functions of the all organs of the body and their functional interactions.
• Understand and describe various functional aspects, at the bio molecular level including metabolic pathways and their regulatory mechanisms.
• 4.Integrate these learnt subjects to practice of clinical medicine.

II MBBS –18 Months: 3 Terms

Pathology 3 Terms of 6 Months each (III, IV & V)

Microbiology 3 Terms of 6 Months each (III, IV & V)

Pharmacology 3 Terms of 6 Months each (III, IV & V)

Forensic Medicine 3 Terms of 6 Months each (III, IV & V)

Objectives
At the end of II MBBS, the student should be able to:

• 1. Understand concepts of cell injury and the biological and morphological effects of such injury on various organ systems. The natural biology of various diseases and diagnostic relationships.
• 2. Describe the relationship of host and parasites, defenses of the body and the mechanism of microbial diseases and their prevention.
• 3. Perform Medico-Legal Autopsies, prepare a report or certify in Medico-Legal Cases and be aware of the legal or Court Procedures related to medicine.
• 4. Understand drug actions, drug interactions, drug prescriptions, and recognize or prevent adverse drug reactions.
• 5. He/She should be able to translate the above concepts to understand various manifestations of diseases and apply corrective therapy on patients.

III MBBS - Part – I 12 months 2 Terms

Community Medicine	6 Months each (III, IV,V,VI & VII)
Ophthalmology	6 Months each (III, IV,V,VI & VII)
Oto-Rhino-Larngology	6 Months each (III, IV,V,VI & VII)

The student should able to understand:

• The epidemiology of various infectious and non-infectious diseases and to understand and manage health problems at the social and Community levels
• Identify common problems related to eye and Visionn and take effective care for prevention of common eye diseases.
• Patho-physiology of common Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases, investigate and treat them and to recognize preventable causes of deafness.

III MBBS Part II – 12 Months – 2 Terms

Medicine	6 Months each (III to IX)
Pediatrics	6 Months each (III to IX)
Surgery	6 Months each (III to IX)
Orthopedics	6 Months each (III to IX)
Obstetrics & Gynecology	2 terms of 6 months each in III MBBS Part II

Objectives
The student should be able to understand:

• Normal growth and development of child with the manifestations of common pediatric problems and their management. Should understand the importance and prevention of Common. Childhood infectious diseases and understand, implement various National Programmes related to Child Health
• Common infectious and non-infectious diseases, their diagnostic and investigative procedures and effective management of these illnesses including allied specialties like Dermatology, Psychiatry, Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases.
• The manifestations diagnostic modalities and therapeutic principles of common surgical problems, to manage common orthopedic problems and understand anaesthetic principles of management. The Principles of radio-diagnosis and radiotherapy.
• The anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of female genital tract, recognize normal and abnormal labour and manage normal labour, Concepts of Family Planning, Contraception, recognize abnormalities of the genital tract, investigate and treat common problems.

ONE YEAR COMPULSORY ROTATING RESIDENT INTERNSHIP

where the student is trained and prepared to get acquainted with procedures in management of patients at the hospital and community levels. After successful completion, the Degree and License to practice are awarded by the concerned authorities.
