Heart is one of the vital organs of human body, malfunctioning of it may lead to fatality, so it is very essential for everyone to take care of heart health. Due to lack of awareness about the cardiovascular health and certain lifestyle habits, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is one of the leading reason for mortality worldwide. World heart day is celebrated globally on September 29th of every year to create public awareness regarding the importance of heart health. On the eve of world heart day Department of General Medicine has organized a CME on 1st October 2024 at our Lecture theater-IV ,New academic building under the guidance of Our Dean Prof. Dr.C.Gunasekaran and with the help of Management and Administration. Dr. I. Balaji, MD, DM Cardiology Assistant Professor, Nagapattinam and Thiruvarur Medical College and Dr. R. Praveen Babu, MD, DNB Cardio Assistant Professor, Dept of General Medicine, VMMCH are invited as Guest Speakers. Our Dean Prof. Dr.C.Gunasekaran Inagurated the cme by lighting the lamp and gave Inaugural address. Prof. Dr. V. Sakthivel, MD Head & Lead Internal Medicine Department of General Medicine, VMMCH delivered the welcome address. Prof. Dr.G. Vijayakumar Nair, Vice Principal, Medical Superintendent Dr. K.Cheran and Resident Medical Officer Dr. G.Sriram gave felicitation address. Followed by Guest Lecture-I by Dr. I. Balaji under the topic Management Of Acute Coronary Syndrome- An Update and Guest Lecture-II by Dr. R. Praveen Babu under the topic Prevention Of Heart Disease- Strategies For A Healthier Heart. Finally Dr. A. Ramesh Bala, MD Assistant Professor, Department of General Medicine, VMMCH delivered the Vote of Thanks.
